All 20 Ancient Fragment Locations in Sailor Piece — Sea 2 Unlock Guide

Exact locations of all 20 Ancient Fragments across 12 Sea 1 islands. Includes spawn rate (1m 30s), appearance (gold flower-shaped key), despawn timer (5 min), and the fastest collection route to unlock Sea 2 from the Sea Traveler NPC on World Island.

What is an Ancient Fragment?

Ancient Fragments are a new collectible item introduced in the Sea 2 Update (April 18, 2026). They are the key to unlocking access to Sea 2 — the second ocean region with four new islands, Guilds, Bloodlines, World Bosses, and new Melee Specs.

Unlike older Sailor Piece progression gates (level caps, boss drops), Ancient Fragments are a world-spawn collectible: they appear at fixed locations across Sea 1 islands, and anyone at the right place at the right time can grab one.

You do NOT need to defeat a boss or complete a quest to pick them up — just reach the spawn location before they despawn.

How Ancient Fragments Unlock Sea 2

To unlock Sea 2, you only need to collect 2 Ancient Fragments — not all 20. The process is straightforward:

  1. Go to World Island — a new island added in Sea 1 with the Sea 2 Update. World Island is the gateway between Sea 1 and Sea 2.
  2. Find the Sea Traveler NPC on World Island. Speaking to the Sea Traveler starts the Sea 2 unlock quest, which requires 2 Ancient Fragments as proof you're ready.
  3. Collect 2 Ancient Fragments from any of the 20 spawn points across Sea 1's 12 islands (full list below).
  4. Return to the Sea Traveler with the fragments. You'll be transported to Sea 2.

You only need 2 fragments to unlock Sea 2, but the remaining 18 spawn points continue to exist if you want to help other players or farm any future rewards tied to the system.

Appearance & Spawn Mechanics

Ancient Fragments appear as a gold-colored ancient key with a flower-shaped design at the end. They are distinctive and stand out against most terrain — if you're at a spawn location, you'll spot them visually.

Key spawn mechanics:

  • Spawn rate: every 1 minute 30 seconds (Beebom, primary source).
  • Despawn: 5 minutes after appearing if no one picks them up.
  • Active spawns: only 2 spawn points are active across the entire game map at any given moment.
  • Implication: you can't just camp one location forever — if a spawn cycles off at your island, the next active spawn might be across the map. Use map portals between islands to chase active spawns quickly.

Conflicting source note: One older guide (ProGameGuides) lists 15 minutes, but this contradicts multiple later sources and appears to be outdated or a misprint. Treat 1m 30s as the correct rate.

The fast spawn rate plus short lifespan means collection is quick once you know the exact locations and have a traversal plan.

All 20 Ancient Fragment Locations (12 Islands)

Every Ancient Fragment spawn point is listed below, grouped by island in rough Sea 1 progression order. Positions are based on Beebom's field-verified guide, which matches the 20-total count confirmed across multiple sources. For each island, the count shows how many distinct spawn points exist there.

Starter Island & Sailor Island — 2 fragments

Starter Island — 1 fragment

  • On the left side of the island, on top of a rock directly adjacent to the sea.
  • The easiest fragment for new characters — reachable within minutes of spawning.

Sailor Island — 1 fragment

  • On top of the windmill, at the middle section.
  • Climb the windmill structure to reach it.

Both islands are low-level, so there's no combat barrier regardless of your power level.

Desert Island & Snow Island — 3 fragments

Desert Island — 2 fragments

  • On top of a tall building directly behind the merchant NPC.
  • On top of a building beside the tallest tower — look for the second-tallest structure adjacent to the main tower.

Snow Island — 1 fragment

- Inside a cabin behind the mobs (not on the roof). You may need to clear or sneak past enemies to enter.

Shibuya Station, Hollow & Shinjuku Islands — 6 fragments

Shibuya Station — 2 fragments

  • On the side of the Cursed King boss building (exterior wall, not roof).
  • On top of the brown building (distinct from the Cursed King building).

Hollow Island — 2 fragments

  • Inside a broken building near the spawn area.
  • On top of a big dead tree beside a large chimney — the chimney is the landmark.

Shinjuku Island — 2 fragments

  • On top of the fully tilted building (leaning at a dramatic angle).
  • On top of the tall building that is only slightly tilted (different from the fully tilted one).

Shinjuku's two tilted buildings are the most commonly confused pair — check the tilt angle carefully.

Slime Island, Academy Island & Judgment Island — 6 fragments

Slime Island — 2 fragments

  • On the balcony of the house near the key crafter NPC.
  • Behind the colosseum, on the ground near the water edge.

Academy Island — 2 fragments

  • On top of the wall, above the watch tower.
  • On top of the academy building, to the left of the NPC.

Judgment Island — 2 fragments

  • On top of a mountain, to the right of the teleport point.
  • On top of the back mountain, behind the ice shards.

Judgment's second fragment is the hardest to spot because of the terrain — find the ice shards first, then look for the fragment above them.

Ninja Island & Lawless Island — 3 fragments

Ninja Island — 1 fragment

- On top of a dead tree, to the right of the spawn point save crystal. The save crystal is your landmark — approach it, then look right for the dead tree.

Lawless Island — 2 fragments

  • Behind the boss tower — go to the boss tower first, then circle around to the back.
  • On a small low wall beside the water inside the island.

Lawless is a high-level area (typically the endgame Sea 1 farm spot) — you may need combat readiness to safely navigate to these fragments.

Fastest Collection Route (2 Fragments Only)

Since you only need 2 fragments to unlock Sea 2 via the Sea Traveler NPC, the fastest strategy is to pick the two most accessible spawn points for your character and rotate between them.

Recommended pair — low-level / new characters

  • Starter Island (rock by the sea, no combat) + Sailor Island (middle of the windmill).
  • Both are safe, easy to locate, and adjacent in the progression path — map-portal between them in seconds.

Recommended pair — endgame characters

  • Any two high-density islands you're already at.
  • Example: if you're AFK-farming on Lawless Island, grab the boss-tower and water-wall fragments back-to-back when a spawn cycle hits.

Key timing tip: Only 2 spawn points are active at any moment across all 12 islands. If neither of your target islands has an active spawn, wait 1m 30s for the next cycle instead of wasting traversal time. The 5-minute despawn window gives you room to teleport — don't panic.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Don't confuse Shinjuku's two tilted buildings — one is fully tilted (dramatic angle), the other only slightly tilted. These are separate fragments and look similar from a distance.
  • Don't try to collect all 20 on the first run — you only need 2 for Sea 2 unlock. Overcollecting wastes time that could be spent progressing Sea 2 content.
  • Don't rely on the ProGameGuides 15-minute spawn rate — that source appears outdated. The actual spawn rate is 1m 30s per Beebom and Sportskeeda.
  • Don't ignore the World Island step — you must speak to the Sea Traveler NPC on World Island AFTER collecting 2 fragments. Collecting without visiting the NPC does nothing.
  • Don't race to Lawless Island if you're low-level — the 2 fragments there require navigating a high-level zone. Use Starter + Sailor Island instead for a safe unlock path.
